“Tin foil hats don’t help”

January 22, 2010

“I find myself sometimes getting angry with the things that should be funny”. You know the little things”. Like the person that always knows its Bushes fault.

I heard a guy on the radio the other night who was convinced that the hurricanes were created by the new world order; headed up by the skull & bones whose leader is Bush. Kerry was even involved. “That one was pretty funny”, it’s hard to get mad at that kind of thinking.

But clean it up just a bit and you can scare a whole planet into thinking it’s going to overheat. “I strongly believe that people who wear tin foil hats shouldn’t be asked for advice on global warming”.

Anti Spy Stuff

Thanks to the Geek site – the gate opens here
Anti Spy ware programs for free

As far as free Anti Spy ware programs go; these are a few of the best free ones that I have used. Every body likes Spybot search and destroy. It’s an all time favorite! SpybotsHome page.

Another really good one that I use all the time is; AdAware Personal SE.

Microsoft’s Windows Defender is a free program that helps protect your computer against pop-ups, slow performance, and security threats caused by spyware and other unwanted software. It features Real-Time Protection and a monitoring system that recommends actions against spyware when it’s found.

Mal Ware is another kind of “nasty”, it likes to screw up things on you’re machine. Other wise known as or called Trojans. These like to down load things into temporary folders, and any other directory it chooses; things like .dlls and installers.Down loaders will down load on every boot. The installers will install on every boot. Thats why you will see the same things show up, scan after scan. Even after you have removed them. Try this one out for piece of mind.

I guess the bottom line is that you need more than one scanner. Just don’t run them at the same time. It’s fun to see what you can catch after a trip around the Internet.

Have fun and stay safe. Stop on by the Geek site

IMPORTANT INFO

April 11, 2007

Google has implemented a new feature which enables you to type a telephone number into the search bar and hit enter and you will be given the person’s name and address. If you then hit MapQuest, you will get a map to the person’s house. Everyone should be aware of this! It’s a nationwide reverse telephone book.

If a child gives out his/her phone number, someone can now look it up to find out where he/she lives. The safety issues are obvious, and alarming.

Note that you can have your phone number removed or blocked. I tried my number and it came up along with the mapquest and directions straight to our house. I did fill out the removal form for myself, and encourage all of you to do the same. Quite scary.

Please look up your own number.

In order to test whether your phone number is mapped, go to: google (http://www.google.com/) Type your phone number in the search bar (i.e. 555-555-1212) and hit enter. If you want to BLOCK Google from divulging your private information, simply click on your telephone number and then click on the Removal Form. Removal takes 48-hours.

Check your own number and although this may not apply to you if you have an unlisted number or cell phone as primary contact, but you may know someone who needs to know this.

Please share this information with friends and family

WHEN CHECKING YOUR NUMBER DONT PUT IN THE PREFIX 1— ONLY YOUR AREA CODE AND TELEPHONE NO…
